Just wondering if there is a particular list of JUST aussie sellers on Etsy? Or is there a seperate Aussie catagory on Etsy??? I love buying Aussie handmade. I am thinking about opening an Etsy store as well as my Madeit store, but I am a bit hesistant about selling overseas. How do they compare in terms of sales as this point?

My sister once sent me a link to a webpage that had a list of aussie etsy sellers...but the easy thing on etsy to do is go to shop local and type in random areas.

Also some sellers put australia as a tag in their listing.

I have sold 14 items through etsy so far, it is my main shop, but I do want to get to adding more things to madeit, and would like to be selling to Aussies a lot more, I think once made it gets bigger we should all do well with it.

I would say 60% of my sales have been to US and UK. I dont mind posting international as I have friends OS so I am good at figuring out parcel cost etc. I dont think there is any greater risk of things going missing either.

^ I just google Aussie Etsy Sellers and this came up. Hope it helps.

By the way, to have an Etsy account, a credit card is required right? I want to sell on etsy but because I don't own one, I can only use madeit.

etsytools.com is run by interobang (an aussie etsy seller) and there's a pretty decent list of Aussie sellers on there. Sometimes it takes a while for newer sellers to be updated on there though. Also, try the Geolocator and Shop Local functions.

I used all three ways to compile a list of Melbourne sellers when I was sending out messages for the last etsy Melbourne meet-up.

Hey Kerry, did you organise the Melbourne Etsy get together??? Man, sometime I WISH I lived in a big city!!! It would be so awesome to meet face to face with other indie people. Being able to share concepts and ideas on the Madeit forum, is a great alternative. Thanks for your help guys. You are all so friendly:)

Well, the first meet-up was organised by Anna Laura - the most recent one was organised by her too... I just helped out by sending out the spam! hehe

So that Visa BOPO card actually works with Etsy? If so, I have to get myself one of those!! Haha. I remember I emailed Etsy asking about accepting Bopo and they said that because previously they haven't accepted any 'prepaid credit cards', I was hesitant in signing up for BOPO to use at Etsy.

Now that I know a few of you use Bopo, thanks! ^^

With having a credit card to use Etsy, most Australian accounts now let you have a debit card linked to the account, so it works like a credit card, but you are not actually getting a line of credit, it only takes from your account. I have one linked to my business account and it is really handy for Etsy and making online purchases as I know I'm not spending money I don't have.

Etsy Tools and the Shop Local tool are helpful for finding sellers from Australia. The list is always growing, whenever I have sent out emails for the Melbourne Meet there is always a whole bunch of new people.

Oh and I think Kerry did most of the organising for the last meet as well as making the cutest cupcakes!

I have an Etsy Store now as well as one here at madeit and my own site (i don't do enough with any of them at present - "real life" keeps getting in the way).If you go to the etsy homepage and scroll down the left side and hit the shop local link and then type in Australia all the Aussie Etsy stores come up. There's lots on there.
I've just had a day off work (yukky flu lurgie)and have managed to loose three hours (and spend quite a bit of money) just looking through sites on there.

There is an Australian team called DUST - Down Under Street Team.

I think the competition can be very fierce on Etsy (I guess it depends on what you are selling). I am also a Etsy victim who frequently suffers from "lost time" ie. too much to look at!! There are some gorgeous things out there.

We have an Etsy store and we just had our first overseas sale which was exciting. Its kinda special to think that there is a little baby in the US who is rocking around in something that we designed and printed.
