I was just looking at Little O's flickr photos when I came across a picture of her sister's tattoo which prompted me to wonder how many people had tattoos and what they were of. If you don't have a tattoo then if you were to get one what would you get? I have three

Pegasus above my belly button
Heart on my ankle
Lady wrapped inside a flower top of my back along my spine

Anybody else like to share?

I LOVE tattoo art:cool: I don't have any myself.... I used to draw fake ones for my friends at highschool, y'know with like black fineliner and felt pens!!!! They used to look quite real too! One day I might just have to get one, just because. I would probably get some sort of symbol, for like 'mother' or the 'om symbol' to help keep me calm.... Sorry I always get a little hippyish when I talk tattoos! I once had a biker chick in a pool bar beg me to draw her a witch that she could have tattooed onto her bicep... true story! But I was too young, and too chicken at the time to follow it through:o

I have a few. Ladybird on my left wrist a fertility god playing a flute on the left inner arm below my elbow and a heart with a vine on the other arm. I have a black band wrapped around my right upper arm and the left arm is working it's way to a half sleeve. Starts on my back with a large sunflower and comes down halfway to my elbow with flowers and butterflys. Other shoulder blade has some fairies and a vine. ANd there's a big fairy somewhere back there in the middle of my back but she's pretty faded and I don't see her anyway - unless I'm looking in the mirror. So even though I'm sugar and spice and all things nice, I can pull off the tough biker whore look pretty well. Not on parent/teacher interview nights though!

Cat you have a lot of tattoos! Wendy Pegasus is cool and its kinda a unique choice, and Emma you should totally design tattoos, my friends brother does it for a lot of ppl.

Yes my sister has toohfaerie, sorry her spelling is toothfairie. Toothy is our cat. The name came from the Simpsons..."well if it isnt the toothfaerie" when grandpa tried to steal jaspers teeth. Well out cat adopted us, he originally lived with the neighbours but we were nicer and whenever he used to come hang around our verandah I would say "well if it isnt the toothfaerie"

My sister is also getting an AFI bat on her stomach. My mum has an assortment of things, including a joint running (its quite amusing I might take a photo tomorrow and put it on my Flickr), and a mushroom. She also has a rememberance tattoo on her hip to remember my dad.

I have none, though I considering getting Totoro with an umbrella. But I think they just arent for me...

Yes Simmone I agree they really have to be right for you. I didn't get my first tattoo until I was 23 because I wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision.

Cat you have heaps I love that I wish I was that game. I'd love to have heaps more but I agree there not really good for parent teacher interviews.

Emma I agree you should design tattoos and if you do decide to I'd love to be your first customer. I know what I want but not sure if I'm not explaining it properly but no one seems to get it and their designs are ugly so I gave up.

Cat - let 'em all out at parent/teacher interviews!!! Always play with their minds! haha! As for drawing tats, maybe I have missed my calling?!!? I'll have to do some more artwork around the place for y'all to critique for me:) This is a highly enligtening thread, and very amusing.... Should be more of it, I say! Cheers all, I have another glass of 'dulcie' waiting for me. You'll have to read my blog today to know who dulcie is! Mawah! Hope someone starts another great convo soon....

i'm a school teacher and seeing parents with tattoo's is nothing unusual - so don't let that stop you! I'm usually so nervous about talking to a billion parents in one night that I don't notice anything but the clock. Ink Up!

Hey Marisa - you just don't know how teachers and people in general are going to react to a heavily tattoed mamma. I just didn't like to think that my kids might be judged by people for something that I've chosen to do. So I've always thought it best to cever up for the first few meetings, then when they've seen how fantastic my kids are, I rock up in my normal black singlet or t shirt knowing it's not going to influence how they feel about my kids. Because even though people like to think they're all open minded about things, they still have inbuilt prejudices about certain things. LOL - those crazy 10 minute interviews are mad. I'm always swapping times with friends because some person goes over their alloted time and it stuffs everyone else up. We all stand there glaring at them.

Hey Cat I know what you meen about people think they're open minded but there not. Some people do still frown upon you for having tatoos but it is getting a little better. One salon I worked in the boss was so paranoid I was never allowed to have them showing. It was a big shock for me because I always thought that hairdressers were liberated and up with the times. Ha Ha.
