View Full Version : Paypal email a scam?
I've received "a very important message" email from Paypal validation Department saying:
During our randomly screening we have detected different IPs logging into your account.
We do our best to protect the paypal community so we may suspend your access to your account and a copy of your driver license may be required. Please download the attachment and fill in the forms to avoid suspension. We are sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
Has anyone else received this email? Is it a scam?
I haven't opened the attachment yet.
Caryn
Hi Caryn,
It is a SCAM! Paypal would never ask you to download a document rather they would ask you to log onto their secure website.
If you have any doubts you can report this email to paypal, visit their fraud page here (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/Help/general/TopQuestion4-outside).
General rule anyone asking you to download a form is a NO NO. I never open an attachment unless I know the sender.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Bec
Thanks Bec for your reply and the link to their fraud page. I have forwarded the email on to them.
I didn't think it was legit.

Hi Guys, I have had a different email supposedly from paypal about 3 times telling me that there has been unauthorized log ins to my account. It never asks me to do anything really but it makes me panic that someone has hacked in and withdrawn all my funds, luckily this hasn't been the case! Does anyone else know anything about this?
Cheers
Amanda

I have received quite a few of these emails in the last week, the paypal site states that if the email does not have your name on it for example Dear Victoria it is a scam. All paypal emails will state your name.
