Hello,
I've never sold at markets before but will have a stall at the next Mathilda's Markets in Lane Cove in May, I was wondering whether anyone had any advice?
I also wanted to knoe if anyone had any feedback regarding these other Sydney Markets:
Allies Attic
Billycart Markets,
Poppyseed Markets?
Thanks :)

I had a stall at Billycart Markets on Saturday, which I shared with my sister. It was well run and people did come with money to spend.
Unfortunately for me it was a very hot day and people weren't interested in beanies :) I did make back my table price (just) but my sister made a considerable profit.
Everything there was supposedly Australian handmade (though when I complemented one lady about her fine crochet skills she had to admit she didn't do it herself - she had sourced the crocheted motifs from Ireland, sure it was homemade but not by her and defiantly not in Australia plus two stalls had crocheted shabby chic beanies what looked identical, again they must be handmade because you can't crochet using a machine but I feel confident in assuming they too were not handmade by the stall owner). That really bothered me because I make all my items myself, I've spent time sourcing materials and I've spent a lot of time on my patterns.
One thing Mel from Billycarts did mention was that some other children wear markets now have retailers competing against hand-crafters. Has anyone else found that to be the case? Stall prices at these new kids markets are quite $$ and I'm not really interested in being part of them if I have to compete with poorly made imports using inferior wool/cotton.
