I am doing a uni research project for my visual communications design course where I am looking at the quirky and unusual things that people collect and treasure. Leave your first name and location, and I will incorporate your input into my final graphic design. Thanks for your help guys!

I'll begin.

My name is Emma, I collect dress makers dolls/ornaments or corset busts, I am constantly in search of a sz 10 wooden dress makers doll....(Not the modern fabric ones that you buy at Spotlight!) I also collect pieces of rose quartz. If I was rooly rich I would collect old meat safes! I also can never have enough brown string or paper bags! ok.... that was one step too far, now I sound like a loonie!

Hey Lisa, I collect books, craft supplies, and animal bones and bodies in jars of alcohol.

I have an animal science background so it isnt as weird as some of you may be thinking.

Emma, my sisters' dad is a butcher, we have an old butcher block and I have a corned beef storage thing in my room. We dont have any of the really funky ones with the gauze fronts though. we also have funny old signs about butcher stuff. The new meat promotion stuff that comes through is really hilarious!!!

Little O funnily enough I'm vegetarian... so the idea of collecting meatsafes is somewhat strange.... I like the fact that they make great storage cupboards. I have one that has mesh top and bottom, although due to little kids in the house we have replace the bottom mesh with boards. Little bodies in jars hey? You should make little felt animals/organs and sell them in little mini plastic bottles! It would be DIFFERENT:)

Emma that is an awesome idea!!! I may look into doing that in some way.

I actually made some lungs last year for my sisters school project on body parts. Mum and her helped out a little but I did most of the work, and came up with the plan/design. My sister took some pics of the lungs against her chest which looked really cool.

I am def not a vego but can empathise with vegetarians reasoning. However I think that improvement in conditions is needed and I dont think the way to achieve that is to stop eating meat, but to make better choices in what meat you eat.

I collect handmade paper, buttons, paperclips and pieces from game boards.

I use to collect those cards and pogs from chip packets until they stopped having them. :(

I have a collection of ceramic fruit and veg which has a purpose i.e. salt and pepper shakers, jugs etc. I call it functional fruit.
I even wrote a little article about my collection for mixtape zine. This is the link to their website with a couple of piccies of my functional fruit. Daggy i know!

I collect fabrics, buttons and buckles. Its looking a little 'mad hoarder' here now so have to get cracking and 'release' more of the fabrics into bags.

I used to collect anything 50's, Jayne Mansfield, pastel 50's shades of colour, laminate, etc. When we moved last time (I have lived in most states in Aus) I finally decided to let it go and did very very well on ebay!
