I've just got my shop up and running. I didn't come from Etsy or any of the others so this is my first time selling my things.

If anyone could give me their opinion or any pointers that would be really great! Don't be afraid to be honest, I want my shop to be the best it can be and I can take constructive criticism.

My shop link is in my sig.

Or if you'd like my opinion on your shop, I'll check it out and let you know what I think!

Hi Hayley

Welcome to madeit! I love you work! Your stuff look great and your shop looks fantastic too!
I have been selling my toys for a couple of months now and recently set up an Etsy shop aswell, would love you to go have a look at mine and let me know what you think?! Some feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Sam

Hey Sammyb, thanks for your comment!

I think your shop is really cute and so are your toys. And only $12, personally I think they're worth more than that. :P

Just a couple of suggestions. I think the shop would look lighter and brighter if you made the shop image background white instead of brown. Or another really really light colour. Cause the images are really cute, but I think they're getting overwhelmed by the brown.

Similar thing with the photos, the big blue polka dots take the attention away from the toys. Having a solid pastel coloured or white background, depending on the colour of the toy, would make the toys really pop. And lots and lots of light from several angles.

Thanks Hayley thats good feedback for me! Totally agree about the photos, the dots do distract from the toys itself so will get these changed!

Same, I have asked a few times for advice, but I think people are tying not to hurt my feelings..... We are all here to sell, and I could do with some more feedback!

Hi Emma

I think your item are lovely but your photo's need a bit more contrast as they seem a bit washed out. Perhaps you could increase the contrast or saturation. Some of your images also have a bit of a blue cast over them which can be lessened if you use a daylight filter or turn up the yellow a bit digitally. I mostly use photoshop to alter my pics (even though mine aren't that great sometimes either!) but I also just use iphoto as well which came with my mac. Hopefully your computer has something similar?
Hope this helps :D

Hayley, I like how your have used vintage/reclaimed materials but used it to make something that is "new" I really liked one of your skirts. Let me go find the one.

I like your banner, but is it blurry or just my eyes...A few have looked blurry today.

Thanks for the feedback, thelittleorchard.
I don't think it's blurry, but I'm not sure. Does anyone else see it blurry?

Emmarose, your things are so pretty! I agree with Marisa about the photos though. Just one tiny other thing, for the Mucky Bub kit, I think the main image should have a picture of all the items that are in it. Maybe it was your choice to keep some mystery so that people would click on it, but as a shopper I'd like to know what it was before I clicked on it. Also someone might be looking for a bib etc, and then skim past the item because it's not in the picture.

Maybe just the bottom line of text - you know, where the little words are under Heidi and Seek? But perhaps it just because they are little?

No it looks blurry. But I just uploaded a new banner and it looks blurry to me as well. Will have to go and look at some others.

Hmm okay. Thanks guys.
I'll change it, I was going to try a new design anyway.

Just checking in! Boy, sure wish we could see how many views we had! I have no idea if people are even looking at my stuff!
Well, I'll just hang in there. Had a huge order on Etsy yesterday, so shouldn't be complaining!

Would anyone be kind enough to give me feedback on my new shop image?

I love your new shop image Hayley, it's cute and simple and your label name stands out. But I don't remember what you had before so I can't really tell you if it's better or worse than your last shop banner.

My shop banner is fairly new too, if anyone wants to, feel free to critique it. It's pretty ordinary though, just a picture I drew, scanned and then coloured with photoshop. But the lines are kinda jagged... but I think that was the aesthetic I was going for... I dunno though, I'll probably have to improve on it in the future when I have time.

Hi there.. I too would love some constructive criticism..

Fairly new to the website I have had some sales but would love more.. I am not on etsy and don't think I will as there are so many others and not sure how people find you.. However again if people are on it and think sales are good please let me know.

I don’t have a link set up yet for my shop however my shop name is Kylie robertson designs.

One thing I know is pics could be better however I find it takes so long to upload the first lot I am waiting until this becomes faster and easier to redo..

Will look at all sites mentioned in this thread and let you know what I think.. :p

Hi Kylie, I love the items in your shop! Especially the scrabble tiles. As for critiques, I would probably suggest 3 things,

1. A longer profile blurb, maybe stating a bit about the stuff you make or a bit about you.
2. The title of your shop on your banner is a bit stretched, so maybe moving it up into the tree bit and making it stand out more by making it white on the green background of trees? Or even just making the letters bigger so they stand out in your banner.
3. I know you already mentioned it but clarity in your photos. They are not especially bad at all, they're just slightly foggy/blurry.

Having said that though, my critiques are only of the aesthetic of your shop and none of the above would stop me from buying from you. Your items are lovely, the descriptions are clear, etc... keep up the great work!

As for etsy, I've found that my sales are better on there than on here when I am putting in 100% effort to maintain the shop by listing regularly etc... I think it's mainly because that site gets more traffic, and hence my items probably get more views when they are near the top of the search results compared to here (but I can't be completely sure because I don't now how many views I get here).
