Are you an up-and-coming fashion designer with true artistic flair?
I am looking to stage an exhibition of independent, artistic fashion designers to coincide with the 2009 Melbourne Fashion Week. The theme will be wearable art – and those who design and make their own items of clothing and accessories, as well as design their own textiles, will be given priority.
Items do not necessarily need to be wearable – think brash, innovative and original.
To be eligible to participate, you must be:
an unrepresented fashion designer/visual artist (if you are professionally represented by a gallery or sell your designs to a commercial entity, you are ineligible but thankyou for your interest)
no more than three years out of tertiary study (at the time of the exhibition)
This is an exhibition concept rarely seen in Melbourne and the possibilities are only limited by our imagination.
At this stage, a venue has not been secured but negotiations are taking place and will be within the City of Melbourne.
Grants are being sought, as well as corporate sponsorship. While participants are not guaranteed to receive an artist fee what is promised is an exciting opportunity to show your work during the most important week on Melbourne’s fashion calendar.
If you are interested in finding out more about this exciting event, please contact Kass Hall from Belmere Creative via email: kass@belmerecreative.com by Friday 9 May 2008.
