PR Companies and Sales Reps

Does anybody use sales reps for getting into retail stores? And do you use any PR companies to help get you products out there and in magazines etc?

At the moment I am looking into doing all of this for my partners label, but in the near future (3-6 months) I think it would be a good investment but have no info on some of the costs and benefits etc associated with these methods.

Hey David,

This is a slow response as I know you posted this ages ago. I have just completed Springboard (http://www.australiandesignunit.com) and we had a great session on 'how to deal with the media'. It's not always desirable on the magazines part to have PR contacting them and they do like the designers to come directly to them. Make your press release relevant to the magazine you are approaching, do your homework and make sure your product is ready to go as you only get so many chances at it and they hate the "oh, its pretty much done".
