View Full Version : non payers
When some one "buys" something, and say they are paying by paypal, how long do you reckon you give them to pay before you presume the bastards aren't "buying" or paying at all??
I've had that happen twice now and I just wonder WTF? Are they drunk or something when they "buy" then wake up full of regret the next day?
So yeah - how long do you give someone to pay up before you wipe them?
P.S. - I did send an email enquiring if they were still interested and have had no reply. The first one the buyer (non) did reply and said - oh no thanks I think I'll leave it for a while.
ok.

Give them 3 working days. They could be trying to transfer money from a bank account etc. After 3 days, send them an email. If they don't reply and it's been 5 working days, just send them another email saying their order will be cancelled if they don't reply within 24 hours.
I don't get why some people go through the trouble of ordering something and not pay! Do they really think we will post it off to them without payment??

I have had a couple of people not pay. I give the buyer 1 week to deposit payment or the sale is cancelled, I think that is plenty of time. I'm not sure why the sales are not followed through?

Hi .. sorry to hear ! so far this has not happened to me..
I generally leave it for 5 working days and then if not have received payment email the customer and confirm they still want the order. So far they have just not had time to trf monies and order is still ok.
Good luck for future transactions..
Maybe on check out the customer should receive a comment advising them if payment is not received within 5 working days then order will automatically be cancelled.
Madeit admin - is this something that can be looked at when the new developer starts ??

It has happened to me a few times. When I first get a sale I will email the person and if they have not yet paid I give the option of direct deposit or ask if they want a paypal reciept. Generally if they are a non payer I don't hear back from them. I might send a paypal invoice in a couple of days time just in case, then let them know that I've put the item back up for sale. I've never heard from a non payer before, I just assume they are embarrassed about the error.
