I have just finished my 2nd breakfast coffee...enjoyed it on my little balcony taking in this beautiful Sunday morning over here in the west. I am busy making my christmas cards and loving it...hopefully the photography will be as successful! In between my card making I am washing, cleaning my workroom (started to look like it had been hit by a tornado) and sewing ribbons on to my daughters new pointe shoes - all this still in my pj's - waiting for 9am so I can crank up some cardmaking music...a little bit of deborah harry I think.

Hello, I am entertaining guests for the weekend.. My mother in law..... so I have played hostess all weekend and am about to go to work and I must say I am most excited about going for a change ....... Are all mother in laws horrible or just mine?

Good morning girls,
I have been filling out a survey for the Telethon Institute on Down Syndrome. I always find these heavy going and confronting as some of the questions are very personal and difficult to answer. Also my beautiful son doesn't quite fit the "norm" and there is no accurate box to tick...so hard..makes me a litle sad..don't know why really as I fully accept and love him. I am doing it online so when it gets too much I pop over to Madeit and see what you are all up to....so it was lovely to see this thread. I thought you might be at the Perth Upmarket today Robyn. I might drop by there this afternoon and have a browse with Sam. My husband is going to see the George Harrison movie with one of our daughters today. We are going to take Sam out for lunch with Jessie before they go to the movie..maybe a game of air hockey at Timezone too! Then Sam and I will come home and prepare dinner for another daughter and her partner. I have also been working on a custom order for a hat and some little rompers.
Now Sam is waiting for me to give him a haircut, shower and shave..so best go..have a wonderful day girls!
Jan
PS. Kristen, I was lucky with my Mother in law, I really loved her, but it did take time and she did hurt my feelings at times. Hopefully, she will grow on you or just get nice!

Kristen - You remind me how lucky I am that my mother in law is so lovely. She's my biggest fan when it comes to the Mrs Monkei stuff and is the first to "like" everything that happens over on my facebook page and blog. Seeing as I dragged her son to the other side of the world, she could very easily have hated me!

Jan - the best people in this world are those who don't fit the "norm". :) x

I wish I was as disciplined as you to be up and crafting so early, Robyn Lee! I did a lot of walking this morning and I'm knackered so have subsided onto the couch with hubby for a while to do homework!

Hi all. I'm new and perusing the posts. My day started out a bit yuk (bit of a wog) but feeling better now after a rest and coffee and cake with hubby down town. But I did manage a couple of new scarves for my shop which I will steam tomorrow. I have just discovered the Upmarket site and will have to spend a bit of time looking over the site. Looks promising with some good info.
Jan - Your Sam sounds gorgeous.

Morning Ladies,

Unfortunately am at work and thinking "I could be doing a lot more fun things at home"! - Not to mention getting a start on some Christmas stock to get ready for upcoming markets.

Jan: I didn't get back on yesterday..the pointe shoes took longer than I thought - teenagers always seem to leave things until the last minute! How old is Sam? I too would love to meet him and mum too of course (hope you can make the November Market) - just wanted to tell you about a heartwarming blog I follow by Kelle Hampton: enjoying the small things. An amazing life story. Kelle gave birth to Nella last year - she has Down Syndrome, I am totally in love with this most adorable child...be warned the birth story will bring plenty of tears and it certainly opened my eyes - it is my favourite blog.
Lady tt: Please keep us posted about the Perth market - I would love to meet you...I will be there with bells on!!! Wow nobody ever comes to Peth (well that is how it seems, lol).
Julie: Ditto Jan - lovely to see another Perthy...welcome to the forum!

Have a great week everyone...

Funny how things take longer than you plan isn't it Robyn? I always plan to do so much in the day and am lucky to do half of it!
I was so touched by ladytt and your comments re meeting Sam. He really is very special and very well loved. He is 21 and attends a lifeskills program in Stirling. He spends his day out in the community...swimming, bowling, sailing, walking, restaurant training and lots more with other clients and carers. We have a list of objectives that are worked on throughout the day. He attends 5 days a week for 5 hours a day. He really enjoys it. He requires a lot of help and it's interesting watching the more able clients helping and interacting with him. Sometimes they help a little too much but it's very heartwarming to see the care they have for each other.
I will have a read of Kelle's blog..thank you for telling me about it.
We might catch up at the November fair Robyn. I haven't been to one for ages!

hi, I'm back. Actually I live down in the South West, just out of Dunsborough on a couple of acres. Today it is all about cleaning! I went to bed last night realising that nearly every room and every bench top is full of c...... and clutter! Tidy house, tidy mind! And my mind has been very cluttered lately! I am cooking up a scarf at the same time though. :p

I could do with some of that cleaning too Julie. Our whole flat is turning into a work studio - the living area is now squashed into one corner...
Today I'm off work after having some minor surgery yesterday, and am now trying to finish off a birthday present for my niece (hopefully she doesn't mind about my terrible sewing skills!)
