I have a retail shop in Surry Hills and am thinking of renting shelf space by the month, just wondering if there is a market for this type of business. My shop sells Japanese goods so I'd have to only allow Asian inspired/designed handmade goods. I'm thinking $50/month premium spot, $40/month lower shelf, $30/month bottom shelf and 15% service fee on all sales. Shelf space is 30cm high, 60cm wide and 40cm deep. Anyone be interested

AVAILABLE NOW!!! Limited spaces now available to rent in Surry Hills NSW, for info go to http://www.beyond-japan.com.au/26.html

Sounds wonderful! Some of my vintage fabrics are asian inspired but not all... would that be ok?

My current range can be viewed at: www.karasmith.com.au

I'd be interested, but I'm in Melbourne. Are you only looking for people in Sydney?

I'm currently rolling out some fragrances that are Japanese inspired. :)

Your bags are beautiful, asian inspired fabrics would be perfect, I even sell some vintage kimono fabric you could use ;-) hehehe
I do get alot of ladies who shop here and I think they would be interested. If I get enough interest I'll set up some shelf units and get it happening. I trade 7 days, so good exposure. CHEERS Craig

Japanese fragrances would be just the ticket, you could send them up and I'll take care of the display/up-keep.
That's two interested parties, 4 more and I'm off to Ikea to get the bookcase :-) CHEERS Craig

Hi Craig,

Do you have a picture or website of your store and where our products would sit? It would give us a good idea in how we can display our products and the feel of your store.

Thanks!

Please check my web site www.beyond-japan.com.au It's only a little shop, open for 10 months, but starting to get known. Surry Hills is full of little shops dotted all over the place and people love to wander and explore the area, handmade goods are perfectly placed to sell in this area. On the products page you'll see a pic of the shop, front right hand side of the shop is where I plan to set up. I'll opt for a display unit that is 40cm off the floor, I think the bottom shelf would be a waste. The overall height will be 168cm, the top of the case would be suited to larger items and available for the entire length of 120cm.
OK that's what I've come up with so far :-) Any questions don't hesitate to ask. CHEERS Craig

I also have some vintage black obi's that I will be making scarves out of.

Your price point for your existing bags is quite low in comparison to my price point. Do you sell higher priced items?

Obi scarves sound good, I think the majority of shoppers want something unique and different. I'm in the process of clearing our womenswear, it's just not unique enough, hanging space will be available in the near future. Yes your price point is higher but your bags are unique, ours are not handmade and not much of a draw card for the shop. Our clothing gets into the higher price point, jeans $199.95/$129.95, t-shirts up to $99; although we do have some great specials for anyone wanting to visit :-)

Excellent, pop in any time, rental spaces will be up and running from 1st July. Anyone who takes a space July/August or August/September, will get their August rental fee for 1/2 price as I'll be closed for 2 weeks to go on a buying trip to Japan :-)

I will have to pop into your shop when I next in Sydney. We stay in Vibe Hotel in Goulbourn street, so its walking distance to the city, and to surry hills. We had fun on Oxford St, so many adult shops! We loved Ariel, the bookstore and the other bookstore, ummn cant remember name but its something like The Book Shop, and its gay and lesbian books.

I love Japanese stuff, and have been to tokyo, and it would be cool to see some madeit goodies!
