Hi all
I am new to this site so though I would introduce myself. I am just finishing Year 12 (BEST feeling in the world to date) and am beginning to design my own clothing; as my goal is to become an independant designer:D. Just quietly, I was so thrilled to have stumbled across this web page...it was EXACTLY what I was looking for!
I made my own formal dress which I was pretty impressed with and my boyfriend supports me tremendously along with my family and friends in my ambition to become a designer. If anyone has any valuble information or advice for me I am so willing to listen.
Toodles x

Hi, sounds like you really have a great ambition and support. My only advice would be to stay focussed and don't feel bad if your aims change over time. Go for it!!

Hi Ashleigh
Love the sound of girls making their own formal dress. Is there somewhere we can have alook at it? Good luck to you in the future. Hope all your designer dreams come true. By the way I think Madeit a great place to start.

getting yourself onto some consignment sites is also a good way to get exposure and promote your brand... one of my items got into a magazine through them doing a feature "bit" on a site i consign to, i was so excited!
try:
sixonesix.com.au
strawberryjam.com.au

also, im just trying having a cube at this gallery in NSW:
incube8r.com.au
i think its a good way to test the market without spending all day at a market stall. it just depends if it will fit in your budget, it is a little pricey.
