Just wondering if anybody can recommend a fabric wholesaler that is happy to work with small-time designers?

Especially companies based in Queensland.

I've contacted a few companies, but as soon as you mention that your a start up company they loose interest!!

I hope somebody can help!!

What do you mean by fabric wholesaler? You are buying from them in bulk?

Surely they would want to work with you! Just give the impression that you are some high-flyer business person, not a new small business!! He he!

Anyway, it shouldn't matter to them if you are buying from them!
I used to live in Brisbane but couldn't find a lot of good fabric places, try Sydney or Melbourne.

I too am in Queensland and would love to find a place in Qld, if not Australia that I can a) purchase bulk fabrics and b) at some point design some of my own fabrics. Everything seems to be overseas! If you come up with any reliable names PLEASE let me know too!

I was looking for a place in Melbourne, but often they have quite a large minimum order, once place I found was $400 worth. So I was hesitant because that is a whole lot of fabric!

Try here (http://www.leutenegger.com.au/) these guys have a minimum order of $200 and I had a rep call in and drank coffee for an hour and I looked through about 3 suitcases of samples.... Also try here (http://www.charlesparsons.com.au/home).
Good luck choosing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Way too much choice for a born procrastinator.... PS. Kara I love your handbags...

I'm not sure if Spotlight do it but some fabric outlets might sell wholesale to you if you buy over 10m or something like that. It might be worth asking. I'm guessing you would need an ABN or something like that to show you can have a wholesale account.

there is some great information here i myself have been trying to find fabric wholesalers the problem also is everywhere you go they want an abn do you need an abn for everywhere coz i'm not sure my business is big enough for that i haven't sold a lot of stuff yet but then the fabric is too expensive to buy as it is coz then you need to charge more for the item so how do you get around this.
