So many people make the statement "what do I need maths for, I'm not going to use it."

Well, I still use a lot of the maths I learnt in school when I am making stuff and doing things on my computer like using Irfan, or sizing things oddly, or to find an unknown in the process of enlarging etc. And even have to remember a bit of pi when making circlular stuff.

I still freguently get out my compass and protractor (sp?), use a ruler and do addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.

I imagine lots of people involved in creative arts and crafts are using maths on a daily basis. SO this thread is an ode to maths, and telling every youngin' you meet, you will use maths!

:p

I totally agree........

I really should have had my socks pulled up in year 9.

I just recently had to draw an oval shape to exact measurements for a design I was creating... well I tried, unsucsessful, I had to google it, how bad is that!!

I love my ruler, calipers and compass and thank goodness I learnt my times tables.....

Maths did seem useless during school. Why? Because we werent living in the real world - the one where maths counts! - The art & design world!! ;)

Maths is COOL :)

Wish I'd paid more attention to maths. Last year I decided to paint the triple J drum on my sons wall and my friend had her husband draw a plan for us so we had all the proportions (he's an architect) and when we went to draw it on the wall we had no idea what we were doing and had to ring him in fits of laughter to get him to come around and draw it for us. Definitely needed my maths that day.
