Hi there,

Just wanted to know something.
I have alot of people request custom listings.
I create them, but then sometimes people change their minds or just dont go through with it. If this happens I end up listing the listing early, but still have to pay. Is there some way of getting a credit if they decide not to go through with the purchase?

Also, some people get totally freaked out by using internet sites, but still want to purchase, so I may set up a listing and then they just wont go through checkout, but still pay me via direct debit. So their custom listing is sitting their, un-sold, but I really have sold it. Is there a way for me to mark it as sold because they have paid me, without them having to go through checkout. Thanks.

Jo

I would have thought that they could check out without going through to payment. I get people to do that in Etsy if they dont want to pay paypal.

Hopefully Bec or Jayc will let you know how to do this, and whether you can get a refund on an unsold custom listing...perhaps with the custom you could edit the item to somthing different so not delete it, just add soemthing you want in your shop.

It drives me nuts when people buy something then don't go through with it. Sigh, oh no, I don't think I want that any more. Mind you this is after several emails from me saying, hi, thanks for buying, now wheres the money.

However. Do you have your site set up for paypal only. Because it shouldn't be any different for them to pay you by direct deposit through madeit as whatever other way you do it.

Maybe you could make it pay before make. Just don't make whatever it is until they pay first. I couldn't see what you make because that link to your shop in your sig didn't work for me.

Yes, of course you can get a refund - just email madeit and we will credit your account. Or as thelittleorchard mentioned change the item to another item if you have more to list.

Interesting question, you can't mark it as sold as the item hasn't been through the checkout system. All purchases need a valid buyer account to process checkout. If the buyer doesn't do the steps necessary for checkout then it's not a real sale and it can't be recorder in your account.

Your buyer can register and then just buy the product but not pay via paypal, but I think what you're saying is that they don't want to register.

The only thing you can do is end early or change your listing.

I like how on Dawanda you can mark the item as sold, meaning Dawanda get their sale fee, even if someone didn't 'buy' the item using the Dawanda checkout process (eg if they paid bank transfer directly).

Worth a thought maybe?! I like referring people I meet at markets to Madeit as it's $AU but some of those people want to make a purchase but not sign up - a similar thing to Dawanda could help in that instance.

Yes, I've been noticing that people see my products on my myspace and ask how to purchase. I always redirect them to Madeit but it seems that they are too lazy to sign up.

Thing is, if they purchase off Madeit instead of somewhere else, I get a sale in my shop and feedback, which is good for other potential buyers. Plus it promotes the site!
